I-Lipo® Now Available at CFUG
Marja Sprock, MD FACOG
Central Florida
UroGynecology has been treating women for urinary, fecal
and cosmetic gynecology problems very successfully.
Since these problems are considered very sensitive and
private, a patient-doctor relationship is achieved in
which other problem areas are often discussed.
A lot of women have
trouble with unwanted fat, mostly on the abdomen and
thighs. Exercise seems to make them tighten everywhere
else but their target/problem area. They are not
necessarily interested in surgery, but would like to get
rid of unwanted fat, often on the abdomen and thighs.
Liposuction requires some form of anesthesia and a
recent study found that fat removed by liposuction comes
back within a year, though not in the same place. I
recently talked to a patient who had fat cells removed
by liposuction from her abdomen, to have them return on
her thighs. In other words if we want to get rid of
unwanted fat, we need to make the fat cells slimmer, not
take them out. That is the same when we exercise,
however it is difficult to target certain areas. When we
exercise, the contents of the fat cells are released for
energy. I just wish you could cater it to the area that
you’d like, for example abdomen and thighs and not the
breasts for example.

I-Lipo has won “Best Slimming
treatment” award at “Les
Victoires de la beauté” in
France and recently was granted
clearance by the U.S. Food and
Drug Administration (FDA). |
On one of my conference
trips I came across the I-Lipo® and was mesmerized. I
found a procedure that is non-invasive, requires no
anesthesia, has no down time and deflates the fat-cells,
achieving less inches and tightening of the targeted
body part. I was impressed that I-Lipo had won “Best
Slimming treatment” award at “Les Victoires de la
beauté” in France and luckily for us in the U.S.A.
recently was granted clearance by the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA).
I-Lipo® uses no
needles, no surgery and has no down time, since it uses
a laser which gently absorbs the individual fat cells in
the targeted area. It does not affect the blood vessels
and peripheral nerves, but opens pores in the fat cell,
through which the contents can escape (Figure 1). The
contents of a fat cell, or adipose tissue cell are fatty
acids and glycerol. When fatty acids and glycerol are
released in the interstitial space, they are collected
by the lymphatic system and transported to the areas of
the body where they can be metabolized into energy
during exercise. In other words if you exercise right
after the treatment, it will accelerate the cleaning up
of the products from the disrupted fat cells. This will
leave smaller fat cells in the targeted area and you
lose inches, without gaining fat cells in unwanted areas
later on. Exercise works the same way, fat cells get
smaller, they do not get removed. So I-Lipo®, gives you
a targeted exercise area, and it is a lot more efficient
and effective for these stubborn areas like abdomen and
thighs.

To see maximum results,
a course of 8 treatments is recommended, per body area.
These treatments should be taken twice per week at
regular intervals.
Compared to surgical
liposuction and other ultrasound or laser techniques
I-Lipo® is much more affordable with similar results.
Results can be seen immediately after treatment.
Typically a 0.8-1.6 inch (2-4 cm) loss in abdominal
circumference can be achieved with every treatment,
remember 8 treatments are recommended for optimal
results, though it is variable.
Also studies
demonstrated over a group of 20 patients, up to 6.1
inches (15.5 cm) reduced off each measurement which
equates to up to 15% reduction in circumference size,
regardless of actual dress size. In general you can go
down 2 dress sizes.
After all the research
on the method and the machine, I did not buy the machine
till I had tried it myself. Now I finally got rid of my
twin belly after 12 years, without any invasive
treatments.
To enhance the
metabolic process to clean up the fat cells, Central
Florida UroGynecology has acquired the ultra I-Lipo® to
enhance the lymphatic system to clean up the fatty
contents.
Central Florida
UroGynecology offers I-Lipo as a service to our patients
for these hard to target areas. This will be the only
treatment in our office we will also make available to
men.
In the past we have had
a lot of men who thought it was unfair that their wives,
sisters, partners, neighbors were cured by us and they
could not see Dr. Sprock. Well that will remain the
same, since she will remain focused on treating urinary
and fecal problems as well as cosmetic gynecology, but
men can come in for I-Lipo® now and make an appointment
with one of our consultants.
